This proposal supports The Gathering, which will be in St. Eugene’s Hall in Moville on 17 May. The Gathering will focus on rights of communities and rights of nature. We will bring together grassroots campaigners and environmentalists from across the North and beyond to learn about one another’s campaigns, form relationships, and uplift our spirits. We anticipate around 60-80 attendees.

At The Gathering, the Rights of Nature Donegal group plans to initiate the process whereby rights of nature will be granted to Lough Foyle. In support of this and all other guardianship efforts, the Gathering will open with the Meeting of the Waters. This will be ceremony wherein water protectors will represent their waterbodies as emissaries, growing our confidence to speak with and for more-than-human beings. The waters will be combined and turned into ink, which attendees will be able to take home and use in their advocacy efforts.

The ZWNW funding will pay for the hall rental, for small glass bottles that we will use to distribute the ink, and for catering (simple lunch, coffee, tea).

The project request is for £500.
