Some people carry a quiet kind of power.
Mary McGuigan is one of them. Born in Derry, she’s a retired teacher, an Irish dancer and dance teacher, an activist, a mother and grandmother. She helped bring the Rights of Nature movement here to the North, and she’s been central to creating The Gathering, where activists from across Ireland come together to share, connect and support one another.
In this episode we talk about what drives her, what keeps her hopeful, and why joy, music and community are just as much a part of activism as protest.
