Welcome to Life Cycles – Derry’s Bicycle Recycling Project, conveniently located at the Derry Train Station.

We are open to the public during the following hours:

Wednesday: 1 PM to 5 PM
Thursday: 3 PM to 8 PM
Friday: 1 PM to 5 PM
Saturday: 1 PM to 5 PM

At Life Cycles, we are dedicated to promoting sustainability, reducing waste, and providing affordable and reliable transportation options. Our mission is fueled by the passion and vision of our founder, Monica Downey. Inspired during the lockdown when access to bikes was limited, Monica saw an opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and the community by giving new life to discarded bicycles.

WHAT WE DO

Bicycle Collection: We collect unwanted bicycles at Pennyburn Recycling Centre Bike Drop Off point, preventing them from ending up in landfills.
Bike Refurbishment: Our skilled volunteers repair and restore each bike to its former glory, ensuring excellent working condition.
Quality Assurance: All our refurbished bikes undergo thorough inspections by experienced mechanics to guarantee safety and reliability.
Customisation Options: We tailor the bike to your specific needs, including adjusting seat height and installing additional accessories.
Affordable and Accessible: Our refurbished bikes are priced competitively, making them accessible to individuals from all walks of life.
Volunteer Opportunities: We encourage anyone to join us in our mission and gain valuable skills in bike repair and refurbishment.

PARTNERSHIPS

Since our launch in June 2021, Life Cycles has made remarkable progress in our mission. In just two years, we have put back over 1500 bicycles into the community, diverted over 2000 bikes from landfill, recycling over 20 tonnes of materials. These statistics represent the tangible impact of our efforts in reducing waste and promoting a zero-waste lifestyle.

Sustrans and Translink: Life Cycles collaborates with leading organisations in sustainable transportation. Together, we advocate for cycling as a means of eco-friendly travel and work towards integrating cycling with public transport options.
Western Health Trust: Through our partnership with the Western Health Trust, we provide bikes to asylum seekers, offer bike training opportunities, and create volunteering opportunities.
